Yomeet ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Yomeet mobile application and website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform.

By using Yomeet, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

1. Information We Collect

a. Information You Provide

  • Account information: email address, phone number, password, or third-party login credentials (Google, Apple)
  • Profile data: display name, username, avatar/photo, bio, profession, gender, language preference, timezone, and availability note
  • Mood and intent data: mood tags (e.g., Happy, Sad, Anxious, Lonely) and matching intents (Vent, Casual Chat, Deep Talk, Advice, Just Listen)
  • Topics of interest you select
  • Messages, images, voice notes, and other content you send through chat
  • AI companion (Kora) conversation history
  • Reports you submit about other users

b. Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information: device ID, operating system, and app version
  • Usage data: online/offline status, last seen time, login timestamps
  • Call metadata: call duration, call type (voice/video), call status (completed, missed, rejected)
  • Push notification tokens (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
  • Error logs and crash reports (via Sentry)

c. Information from Third Parties

  • Google or Apple account information when you use social sign-in
  • Payment and subscription status from RevenueCat (mobile) and Stripe (web)

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account
  • To match you with other users based on your mood, intent, language, timezone, and topics of interest
  • To provide AI companion (Kora) conversations tailored to your emotional needs
  • To facilitate text messaging, voice calls, and video calls
  • To send push notifications about messages, calls, matches, follows, and likes
  • To moderate content and enforce our community guidelines
  • To process subscriptions and payments
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations
  • To improve our services and develop new features
  • To send transactional emails (welcome messages, password resets)

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Yomeet. Each has its own privacy policy governing the use of your data:

  • Firebase (Google) — push notifications and authentication
  • OpenAI — AI companion (Kora) conversations and content moderation
  • Agora — voice and video call infrastructure
  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription management
  • RevenueCat — in-app purchase management on mobile
  • Twilio — SMS delivery for phone verification
  • Resend — transactional email delivery
  • Cloudinary / AWS S3 — media storage (images, avatars)
  • Sentry — error tracking and performance monitoring

4. Content Moderation

To keep Yomeet safe, we use automated content moderation tools. Messages may be reviewed by:

  • AI-based moderation (OpenAI Moderation API) to detect harmful content
  • Custom keyword filtering for prohibited language
  • Personally identifiable information (PII) stripping to protect user privacy in moderation pipelines

We do not sell, share, or use moderated content for advertising purposes.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers using industry-standard encryption. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. Authentication tokens are stored in encrypted secure storage on your device.

  • Access tokens expire after 15 minutes
  • Refresh tokens expire after 7 days
  • OTP codes expire after 5 minutes
  • Messages and conversation data are stored on our servers
  • View-once images are deleted after being viewed

While we implement reasonable safeguards, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Device Permissions

The Yomeet app may request the following device permissions:

  • Microphone — for voice calls, video calls, and voice notes
  • Camera — for video calls
  • Notifications — for push notifications about messages, calls, and matches
  • Photo Library — for sharing images and setting your profile photo
  • Bluetooth — for connecting audio devices during calls

You can manage these permissions at any time through your device settings.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • With other users as part of the platform's functionality (e.g., your profile, messages, and online status)
  • With third-party service providers listed in Section 3 to operate our services
  • When required by law, regulation, or legal process
  • To protect the safety of our users or the public
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with prior notice)

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
  • Request data portability
  • Withdraw consent at any time

You can delete your account at any time from within the app. Account deletion permanently removes your profile, messages, conversations, AI sessions, notifications, and all associated data.

9. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data is permanently deleted, including messages, conversations, call logs, AI sessions, and relationships. Some anonymized data may be retained for analytics. Error logs collected by Sentry may persist for a limited time after account deletion.

10. Children's Privacy

Yomeet is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected data from a user under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a minor is using Yomeet, please contact us.

11. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Yomeet after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
